Läste nyss en tråd där Darwin nämndes och kom då att tänka på om det finns fler än jag, vilket det naturligtvis finns - som valt att behålla får/lamm - inte för att de är bra för produktionen (vi som kan behålla dessa djur kanske endast kan göra det pga att vi inte har ett ekonomiskt utbyte av dem) - med behov av särskild vård eller annat stöd?
Jag har halta Greta som jag hade hos mig förra sommaren och som i vintras skadat ena bakhasen illa med en antagligen felläkt fraktur och då jag tog tillbaka henne i år och tog ut veterinär så var bedömningen att hon inte har ont alls. Hon är en glad god moder och har tillika blivit ledartackan i min lilla flock. Det jag får passa på är att hon inte ska gå på steniga beten och inte behöva söka mat på mager mark. Och får verka denna klöv med anpassning. Sen har jag tvåkönta vackraste Ida som ju kissar ned sitt ena bakben och som jag nu särskilt på sommaren får tvätta och klippa rent ca varannan till var tredje vecka. Så... Nyfiken på vilka djur ni har som behöver lite extra omsorg?

Jag har en tupp med felläkt benfraktur. Han har inte hamnat i grytan eftersom jag har svårt att nacka friska tuppar och han ser inte alls lidande ut.

Så länge djuret verkar må bra, så producerar det väl det det ska i främsta rummet: Oxytocin! :D (Hos ägaren!) Att det sen går att äta dem, är ett stort plus i marginalen.
Tycker jag. Under min tid som djurägare hade jag flera tveköningar, ett par getter som aldrig fick några killingar, och jag älskade nästan årligen liv i svaga killingar eller lamm. Jag är övertygad om att vi skulle må mycket sämre om vi bara hade ihjäl dem så fort de inte producerar mat åt oss.
