Jag tänkte ge mig på att snickra ett par foderramar och funderar på vad som är bästa materialet, masonite eller plywood. Finns det något annat man bör tänka på? Ytbehandling?

Plywood utan tvekan! 4 millimeters räcker bra! Om du inte har för stora krav på storlek så gör så här! Spika på en bit plyfa på ena sidan av en biram så att den sidan blir tät. Sätt en bit på den andra sidan som är 20 millimeter lägre i överkant då får du en spalt upptill på 10 milimeter där du kan fylla foder och bina kan komma in och äta. Gör inte lägre spalt än 10 millimeter för det blir svårt att fylla i fodret. Naturligtvis så kan du spika samman två ramar då får du fickan dubbelt så stor. Fyll i lite smält vax i fickan och värm utsidan med en värmepistol och fördela vaxet genom att vinkla ramen. Akta dig så att du inte bränner dig eller tänder eld på vaxet!
Du kan med fördel mata med vanligt strösocker om bina är tröga i början så lägg i en klick honung i ena ändan.
