I suspect that a couple of my birds have this. First it started with my Rooster. One day his crow was hoarse. he was like this for almost a week. I kept looking for signs of mucus, but could not see any. I could him that he had something in his lungs when he breathed. I had a spot of diarrhea, but that seemed to get better. Then his crow was coming back. I then brought in a new rooster and more birds. The new rooster got to my old one, and they had a fight. My old rooster's eye was injured. I have been nursing him inside. Now there is a bad smell from his mouth, and he is not eating or drinking much. Then I noticed one of my other birds has bad diarrhea and she is now keeping her beak open to breath.
I'm freaking out, as I have 7 five week old chicks and 7 hens, plus I am to bring home 3 Yokohanas later today. In the US I could go to the feed store and buy vaccinations and antibiotics for my chickens. Here, it seems I have to jump through hoop after hoop to get anything. The district Vet is not available, since it is vacation time of the year, so emergencies only, and well, guess chickens are not emergencies. I pretty much know what to do, just need the meds.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm desperate and so worried. I have turned up the heat in the coop. I have apple cider vinegar in the water. I am feeding yoghurt with vitamins. I have separated some birds, and I am cleaning the coops and run often.
